About Us
Riverstone is a small kennel situated on the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand. A beautiful and unique area of the country, border by the rugged coastline on one side and the snowy peaked Southern Alps on the other. The West Coast is an outdoor adventurer's playground, with a number of world famous attractions like the Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers a bit further south, the Pancake Rocks and Blowholes at Punakaiki. We are also well known as an unequalled destination for hunting, fishing and tramping.
We live in a little town, just over the Southern Alps from Christchurch, named Kumara. I was introduced to the lovely breed of Golden Retrievers in 1994 and laughed at the person who told me "you never have just one Golden". Well a few years down the track we have had a few new additions and seen some dearly loved ones go and now it's my turn to tell people that "one Golden is not enough".
Do I regret turning my home into a hair-infested, burial ground for dead teddies - NEVER. Well, maybe on the odd occasion when non dog-loving visitors turn up unannounced!!
The occasional litters are produced at Riverstone, and like all breeders, big or small, my goal is to breed happy, healthy, well-adjusted puppies with good temperaments for loving families. I try to achieve this by using stud dogs which will not only complement, but improve my lines for the future.
